The skills park is just awesome!! There's plenty of ramps and different terrain. Lots of tactical challenges and it's connected to the Patapsco trail system so what's not to like!
This was my first time being at this track. I came from a bmx background over half my life ago. I'll be turning 46 on November10.
Anyways. LOVE this place!
If I had a go pro or similar product...I would have videoed some of the trails so you could see what to expect...but...than where's the fun in that?
Well designed and maintained BMX style track loop is great fun for all skill levels. Great warm-up spot before venturing into adjacent Patapsco State Park trails. Diamond Back technical loop is fun and challenging but turns into a loooong boulder garden at the end. Thanks to MORE!
These bikers were about a third my age and I never experienced any frustration on their part toward this old guy.
Aa far as the track goes...near the end of the time I spent there.. A guy wielding a shop broom was sweeping away the leaves and twigs and other various woods environment accoutrements... Too bad he wasn't there earlier. Oh well.. I gave him a hand sweeping up and the job got done quicker.
Such a great place to hone your biking skills!
If you see an old guy on a 1997 Specialized Rockhopper woth a rigid fork...that is me...providing there isn't someone else with a blue one just like mine...
I didn't know exactly where the track was as the Google maps direction brought me close...but there was another biker that gave me instruction as to where to go. So..got there okay.
Really fun good for beginners and intermediate bikers
I am definitely going back as this is a place where I can acquire skills I don't have and hone the ones I do.
Seems very family friendly there. The park also has field games and horse trails and also there are more trails to be ridden that aren't necessarily this closed in portion which is the 'Skills Park'.
Turns out a few of the guys I spoke too traveled some way to get there...I drove 72 miles from York Pa myself.
I even saw a young mom and her child on a balance bike (bike with no pedals or cranks) and this guy was going through the pump section with mom following him.
There are lots of "lines" that you can travel with some variety so that riders of many places of experience can still have fun and a good workout!
I spent 4 hours there refamiliarizing what it is like to jump on a bike. I was the only one there at around 9:30am...but as time passed...more people showed. There were more than a dozen riders by the time I left with various different styles of bikes and riding background.
